Celebrating 10 Years of Hydration

Central Highlands Water (CHW) and the City of Ballarat are proudly celebrating a decade-long partnership as part of the Choose Tap program, an initiative promoting community health and hydration by providing free access to drinking water fountains in public spaces.

Since its launch in 2014, more than 100 Choose Tap fountains have been installed across the City of Ballarat local government area including parks, schools, and community spaces, promoting healthier lifestyles, reducing reliance on single-use plastics, and providing easy access to safe drinking water for all residents.

The milestone was celebrated at the Ballarat Botanical Gardens, where one of the first Choose Tap water fountains was installed in 2014. The fountain now features a refreshed design inspired by the iconic begonia theme, recently showcased on the special edition Choose Tap reusable water bottle for the Ballarat Begonia Festival. This updated design highlights the rich heritage of the Ballarat Begonias, grown in the Botanical Gardens, as part of a vibrant new look.

Created by Myanda Butt, the illustration showcases a vibrant pattern incorporating both tuberous and nontuberous Begonia foliage, including varieties like Cane and Rex. The design celebrates the rich diversity and striking beauty of Begonias.

As a valued partner in advancing our region, Central Highlands Water continues to support initiatives that benefit health of the local community.
