Cheers to good hydration at Bligh Park Public School
Located in the Hawkesbury area to the Northwest of Sydney, Bligh Park Public School is a co-education primary school, serving years K-6. Skills are fostered to develop creative, innovative & collaborative problem solvers – tolerant, respectful & resilient global citizens.
Teachers know. Good hydration is key for students’ well-being and learning.
Principal Joan Westerweller decided it was time to upgrade the school’s drinking water infrastructure. To increase the availability of drinking water at the school campus and to invest in students’ health and well-being.
She arranged a site visit with a hydration specialist. They discussed different options and looked at what would work best for the school. Upon consideration, she selected two types of drinking water products. Both drinking water stations combine a fountain with a bottle refill capability. They also feature custom art panels. This turns the stations into a colourful feature on campus. It makes fresh and clean drinking water even more attractive to the students.
The problems schools face with old-fashioned drinking troughs
Old-fashioned drinking troughs have long been a feature in many schools around Australia. But are those bubblers still doing a good job? Do they encourage students to make water their preferred drink? Principal Joan Westerweller decided it was time to upgrade the school’s infrastructure.
Healthy hydration habits benefit students for life beyond school
For years, students have been accessing water by drinking from a fountain. Today, students bring a reusable water bottle with them to school. This helps to create a healthy habit that will benefit them for life. As a result, schools look to upgrade their old-school drinking troughs. They want to incorporate water bottle refill points in their new drinking water stations.
Factors to consider when selecting drinking water stations
When schools decide to upgrade their drinking water infrastructure there are a few factors to consider. First, they need to make sure that new products are suited for a school environment. Next, they need to consider the budget. At the same time, schools want to make that they choose quality, and durable solutions that students will enjoy.
Drinking water stations designed for schools
The Aquafil Hydrobank is designed specifically to suit the busy school environment. This drinking water station combines three bottle refill points, with three fountains. And it features a large panel where schools can display school colours or other messaging. The stainless steel construction means it is very robust and durable.
The school also wanted to create an access point for water near the playground. Adding a drinking water station near where students naturally gather, is a great way to ensure students stay hydrated. For this location, the school chose the Aquafil Pulse. The free-standing unit offers a fountain and a hygienic bottle refill point, as well as custom art panels.
How Aquafil by Civiq helped the school save on costs
Every school is different. To ensure the best outcome for the school and the students a site visit with a Civiq Hydration Specialist was arranged. The school already had plumbing in place. The Hydrobank was installed using those plumbing fixtures. Only minor changes had to be made. This saved the school hundreds of dollars in installation costs.
Custom art panels on all drinking fountains
“Our new bubblers look fantastic. Thank you. They look so good, we would like to retrofit our other 2 other bubblers with custom art panels.”
– Joan Westerweller, Principal.
