How Ocean Grove Upgraded Its School Drinking Water Fountains
At Ocean Grove Primary School, students wanted more than just better drinking water.
They ran for it.
When the old fountains stopped meeting students’ needs, the school community stepped up.
A whole-school Colour Run raised over 75 percent of the funds needed for two new AquaHydrobanks.
The impact was immediate.
Students raced through clouds of colour, water bottles in hand, laughing and cheering each other on.
By the end of the day, students gathered around the new hydration stations, excited to take their first sip.
The excitement across campus was clear. These were water stations everyone wanted to use.
The Challenge: Outdated Infrastructure and Ongoing Repairs
Like many schools, Ocean Grove Primary had drinking stations that had simply reached the end of their life.
“Our previous water stations were outdated, unappealing and often required ongoing repairs.”
Frequent repairs and ageing fixtures meant students were missing out on the experience they deserved.
The school wanted something better.
Something built to last.
Something students would actually want to use.
The Turning Point: A Whole-School Effort
Upgrading the water stations became a true community project.
“The students at our school are deserving of quality resources and infrastructure. The school community rallied to raise funds for the installation of the water stations. A whole school ‘colour run’ raised more than 75% of the funds required for the project.”
Mrs Stanley, Mr Marsay and Mrs Lowery led the 2025 Colour Run, supported by an incredible school community.
Families joined in.
Students ran.
Funds were raised.
The Colour Run covered the majority of the project.
Every dollar raised went straight to installing two new hydration stations on campus.
The Solution: A Lasting Hydration Upgrade For Students
Ocean Grove Primary School installed two Aquafil Hydrobank stations designed specifically for busy school environments.
Each station includes drinking taps and bottle refill spouts, so students can easily use their own reusable bottles all day.
“The two new water stations have been incredibly popular. Students enjoy using the stations for both drinking water and filling their drink bottles.”
Within the first week, the change was clear.
“The water stations have been at our school site for one week. The feedback from both students, families and staff has been overwhelmingly positive.”
Students are using the stations every day.
Families are seeing the difference.
Staff are noticing more students choosing water.
Designed For Schools, Designed to Belong
Ocean Grove made sure the new units reflected the school’s identity as well as serving a practical purpose.
“Highly recommend the Civiq water stations. Incorporating artwork, logos and school signage onto the backboard, further enhances the units in line with a school’s context.”
Customisation lets schools add their own branding, artwork and messages to the Hydrobanks, making them a visible part of campus life.
A Win For Students and the Community
This project is more than a facilities upgrade.
Reliable, appealing water stations are an investment in student wellbeing that will last.
The new Hydrobanks encourage healthy hydration, help students stay focused in class, and reduce single-use plastic waste.
These stations are a daily reminder of what the school community can achieve together, building school spirit and pride for years.
It shows what’s possible when a school community comes together to invest in student wellbeing.
Two Hydrobanks.
One Colour Run.
A community that showed up.
And students who are now choosing water every day.
