WaterMark Certification: What It Means for Safe Drinking Water

Choosing plumbing products isn’t just about appearance or cost; it’s also about functionality. It’s about trust, safety, and meeting national standards.

WaterMark certification is the baseline for drinking water systems in Australia. From May 2026, it will also be mandatory for all lead free plumbing products.

What Is WaterMark Certification?

WaterMark is Australia’s official certification for certain plumbing and drainage products.

If a product has WaterMark certification, it means:

  1. It has passed independent testing
  1. It meets national standards for health and safety
  1. It carries a unique certification number and WaterMark logo
  1. It is listed in the WaterMark Product Database

Why WaterMark Certification Matters

From May 2026, every new drinking water product must be both lead free, and WaterMark certified. That includes taps, fountains, refill stations, and valves.

This matters because:

  1. WaterMark is the only nationally recognised mark for drinking water safety
  1. It ensures only tested materials encounter water
  1. It gives schools, councils, and facility managers confidence that their products are compliant
  1. It aligns every installation with the National Construction Code (NCC)

Want to check if a product is compliant? Use the WaterMark Product Database.

Why Civiq Uses WaterMark Certified Products

This means they are:

  1. Independently tested for safety and quality
  1. Approved for use in Australian drinking water systems
  1. Built to meet the 2026 requirements, today

WaterMark certification is more than a legal step. It’s our way of protecting the communities we serve.
